Cassinia Volume 71
The latest volume of Cassinia (the DVOC's journal) is ready for
distribution. Editor Art McMorris will have the copies at the July 2nd
meeting. If you are there make sure you pick up yours. Also make an effort
to pick up copies for other DVOC members you might be seeing this summer. It
will be expensive to mail copies to individual members so we would like to
make every effort to minimize mailing costs.

AOU Convention
A message from Bob Curry - Chair, Committee on Local Arrangements, AOU2009,
Philadelphia (12-15 August)
We have made special arrangements to allow non-professionals interested in
birds to attend components of the conference program, through single-day
registration options (instead of paying for the entire conference).
Components that DVOC members might be interested in include:
. Welcome and Plenary session, Thursday morning, 13 August,
featuring talks by Scott Weidensaul and Bob Ricklefs (
http://www.birdmeetings.org/aou2009/plenary.htm)
. Keynote lectures and associated symposia on Friday and Saturday on
topics including bird song & learning; conservation; and behavioral ecology
(http://www.birdmeetings.org/aou2009/keynote.htm)
Details about registration options are at
http://www.birdmeetings.org/aou2009/reg_fees.htm
We will also need volunteers to help run the meeting. We need folks to help
with registration, AV projection, and other logistical aspects. People
interested in signing on as a formal volunteer-in exchange for free
admission to some of the presentations-should contact me for details.
If anyone else at DVOC has any questions, please don't hesitate to contact
me.
