DVOC FIELD TRIP TO ROOSEVELT PARK, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1 - As scheduled, we'll
meet at Roosevelt Park in South Philadelphia at 9:00am. The open water is
currently hosting 2 pairs of Redheads, along with Ring-Necked Ducks,
Bufflehead, Wigeon, Shoveler, Gadwall, Coot, etc. We'll look for Cackling
Goose among hundreds of Canada's. After spending about 45-60 minutes, we'll
drive to Darlington Tract in Delaware County, to look for the LeConte's
Sparrow, which was seen this morning. For those who want to meet us
directly at Darlington, we'll plan to be there around 10:30 am. Directions
to Darlington Tract, from Rte 476. Take exit #5 onto Route 1 south. Follow
for several miles past the Granite Run Mall in Media. After the Franklin
Mint and WaWa Corporate Headquarters (both on left), turn right onto
Darlington Road. About one-mile down the road there is a right-hand
pull-off into a small parking lot. Follow the foot trail out the northwest
side of the lot. Trails are icy and slippery, wear appropriate footwear.
Our group will try to consolidate cars at the Granite Run Mall, as the
parking area is not large, and road-side parking is not available.
Leader: Debbie Beer, cell phone: 610-955-4098.
