Visitor to the Delaware Valley from Iceland
The webmaster received the following recently:
"First I like to introduce myself . My name is Ómar Runólfsson and I live
in Iceland just outside of Reykjavik the capitol. I am 60 years and work as
an assistant at the institute for experimental pathology department of the
university of Iceland . I am a keen birder and a photographer see my page :
www.flickr.com/photos/omarrun
Now it happens that my son Hlynur and his wife Erna are in Philadelphia for
studies and work and will stay until november this year . They have invited
us the parents to visit them while they stay there and we have desided to go
there in late april and stay for around ten days . The plan is to fly to
Boston MA and drive from there to Philadelphia and same route back . Now
this is the reason for contacting you and I hope you can help me in finding
some local birders which could point me to interesting birding places in
Philadelphia and surroundings or on the way to and from Boston MA. I came
upon your name on the Delaware valley bird clubs page and had the feeling
you could help."
If you are interested in pointing this gentleman to interesting birding
spots during his visit (April 17-May 3) please contact him at

Fledging Birders Program
http://www.fledgingbirders.org/challenge.html - Submitted by Colin Campbell
"We, as birders, have a responsibility for conserving our winged wonders.
The Fledging Birders Program (www.fledgingbirders.org
<http://www.fledgingbirders.org/> ) is working toward future bird
conservation by helping new birders develop their own understanding of birds
and the issues that threaten them. The Fledging Birders approach integrates
educational theories and birding knowledge to effectively spark the
appreciation of birding in others at their own pace."
