Upcoming Field Trips: (Details and directions at <http://www.dvoc.org>
www.dvoc.org under "Field Trips")
February 16-18 (Saturday-Monday) Algonquin Park and Amherst Island, Ontario,
Canada
A 3 day trip over President's weekend to look for winter finches, raptors
and owls. In Algonquin we hope for crossbills, redpolls, Pine Grosbeak,
Boreal Chickadee, Gray Jay, Black-backed Woodpecker and Spruce Grouse, while
in the south the woods and fields should hold Saw-whet, Long-eared,
Short-eared and Snowy Owl. If they are around we'll also search for Boreal,
Great Gray and Hawk Owl. Quality, not quantity! Limited registration. Fee.
Leader: Adrian Binns
February 16 (Saturday) Indian River Inlet and Points North, Delaware
Join us as we search for wintering waterfowl, gulls, seabirds and other late
winter visitors. Besides birding Indian River Inlet and Rehoboth Bay, we
will stop at Silver Lake, Cape Henlopen State Park, Prime Hook and Bombay
Hook as we bird our way back north. Dress for the weather, bring lunch and
scopes. This is a joint field trip with Wyncote Audubon.
Meet at the parking lot on the north side of the Indian River Inlet at 9am.
Leader: Martin Selzer
Dr. Jeff Wells's book is still available.
The club still has a couple of copies of "Birders Conservation Handbook: 100
North American Birds at Risk". We have arranged for a very special price of
on $25 per copy ($35 list price). Pick up a copy at the next meeting. Once
our supply is gone you will have to pay retail to get this outstanding book!
Vinyl Car Window Stickers
The club has obtained a new supply of the popular DVOC car window stickers.
They are available at the meetings for the low price of $1 each.

Thursday February 21, 7:30 pm, at the Academy of Natural Sciences,
Philadelphia PA
Program - Mary Gustafson - "TexMex Birds"
Come learn about the birding opportunities just across the border in
northern Mexico, a short drive from Texas. How many hours away are great
birds like Worthen's Sparrow, Ornate Hawk-Eagle and Military Macaw? There
are seven Tamaulipan Brushlands endemic birds and two endemic Chihuahuan
Desert birds, only three of which are regular in Texas.
