First of all, Chris and I will see many of you at East
Park Reservoir at 7:30 AM for the DVOC Field Trip.
Zoo meeting is at 10:00 AM. Attached below is an email
from Wendy Lenhart, via Chris Walters. My take on this
is as follows: Car pool if you can. The main entrance
to the zoo is at the intersection of 34th & Girard -
do not enter there!
Park at the lot on 34th street if there is room, then
walk to the far end of that parking lot to the Shelly
entrance - we will be signing you in at that gate
because Wendy needs a list of names. Let us know if
you are a zoo member.
If you cannot park in that lot, use another lot and
walk to the Shelly entrance.
Tell the parking attendant you are coming for the DVOC
meeting, and you shouldn't have to pay for parking.
After the 10:00 AM DVOC meeting, Wendy has arranged
some feedings in the ZOO.
MANY THANKS TO WENDY for putting this together. from
Frank
Read her email below, for more clarification.
Frank----see the message below. Paul and Bert will be
in California
but
can you and I coordinate a bit by phone about this
meeting in advance
(it appears we'll need to help Wendy create a list of
those attending,
and maybe show arriving people where to park, etc)? Of
course I'll be
over at the "field trip" beforehand...

Hey there,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The Zoo
just re-named all of the parking lots to help visitors
better navigate and I wanted to get my names straight.
Ideally, DVOC members will have room to park in the
"Tiger Lot," which is the lot closest to the Zoo. It's
on 34th street and lies between the Channel 6 Zoo
Balloon and the Shelly administration building. This
is also the lot where you must enter through the
Shelly
Gate.
However, that weekend is our grandparent's day
weekend, so it may be crowded, and members may have to
park further away. If they are unable to get in the
Tiger lot, they will have to walk to the Shelly Gate
which is at the opposite end of the lot from the Zoo
Balloon. I
have put in a request for free parking for DVOC
members, so they will need to mention that when they
park. It may be a good idea for people to car pool
because we do get a lot of attendance for grandparents
weekend, through we try to make parking as painless as
possible.
In order to get members in for free, I will need to
keep a list of who is admitted from Shelly that we can
then give to admissions to go towards the days
attendance. Will someone from the club be able to help
me with that? If DVOC members are also Zoo members,
I'd also like to track that since they would otherwise
get in free anyway.
See you soon! Wendy
