GLOUCESTER COUNTY “RUN”, NJ
Our annual trip to Glassboro Woods in Gloucester County, NJ
for the KENTUCKY WARBLERS had its best showing ever with 5 singing males and
2 showed nicely! 54 other species rounded out this cloudy morning. Migrants
were not around, but we did manage a BLACK-THROATED BLUE male. WORM-EATING WARBLER
and OVENBIRD also cooperated nicely. HOODED was heard only. We had one literally
10 ft. from us! But we couldn't coax it into view! PROTHONOTARY was strangley
quiet here, but we did pick one up at Scotland Run in the afternoon. A BARRED
OWL called a couple of times around noon - some of us heard, but we couldn't
get the bird to call repeatedly like they can at night! An immature BLUE GROSBEAK
along the Moore Ave. powerline cut was a new location for them here. They are
expanding their range in Gloucester County. Any questions or for a complete
bird list, please email me at sandrakeller@verizon.net and thank you all for
a great morning! We had a baby Box Turtle and many Fowler's Toads along the
roads to complete the morning.
