Edwin Forsythe NWR at Brigantine, New Jersey
The annual November trip to Forsythe NWR enjoyed great looks
at the usual winter species to be found here - Northern Shoveler, Green-winged
Teal, Hooded and Red-breasted Mergansers, Horned Grebes, etc. One highlight
was the Bald Eagle that was continually harassing a flock of Black Ducks - which
kept putting up when the Eagle came near! Another Eagle - an adult - was perched
on an Osprey platform close enough for a very good picture opportunity. Another
highlight was a Ross's Goose that we picked out in the Snow Geese flock along
the north dike. It made for a great comparison with the Snows!
Brant were both in and outside the dikes. A short run to Leed's
Point was made to see what was around. Nothing out of the ordinary, but people
now know the area. I will be happy to answer any questions on the trip - just
email me at sandrakeller@verizon.net"
