Raccoon Ridge, NJ

The Raptor Watching trip to Raccoon Ridge was very successful, The trip only included three participants, due to the postponement of the trip because of rain on Friday, and the appearance of an Ivory Gull in Cape May. In addition to our group, there were an additional 12 birders on the ridge. Fortunately, we were able to access Raccoon Ridge via the Boy Scout Camp, which reduced our hiking from 2 mile to 1/2 mile (ALL UPHILL)

Although the winds were 30 MPH from the Northwest, the temperature was a mild mid 40's. The birds includes 12 Bald Eagles, 4 Golden Eagles, 18 Red-tailed Hawks, 4 Coopers Hawk and a late Merlin. We also observed several Common Loons and a flock of 50 Canada Geese. In addition, a juvenile Milksnake was found nearby.
