BIRDING THE NATIVE GRASSLANDS AT THE PENNYPACK TRUST, MONTGOMERY CO., PA
Amazing as it seems, the rain did not fall on the Trust grasslands between 9:30
and 11:30 AM. It was damp and dismal but
Kate Somerfield and I had a real nice walk. We saw the usually reported
fall things from the Trust and also the juncos and sparrows. Song, swamp, chipping,
white-throated and white-crowned were at the brush piles and field and savannah
were on the grasses. Lots of ruby and golden-crowned kinglets. Palm and yellow-rumped
warblers with blue-headed vireo and Ccreeper at the pond. Male kestrel hunted
the fields and three red-tails sat wet in the branches. Bluebirds and kingfisher
were in fine color.
